What are some decorating/accents for my bedroom?
I am 15 turning 16 in a couple months, and I just got contacts/my braces off, so I want to have my bedroom looking more "mature". My parents won't let me paint the walls/put up wallpaper because our house is new. The walls are a very light pink(ew) and my bedspread is from Target (cream color background with brown, aqua, pink, orange, yellow, and green flowers/stems on it. The bed skirt is bright pink and my lamp is orange. I have little "bowls" around my room of different colors that hold my hair stuff and other "stuff". I also have a plastic shelf that 3 "tiers" tall and holds my travel souvenirs, gymnastics trophies and jewelry/perfume. How can I make that look more "sophisticated" instead of a hunk of plastic holding "stuff"? I would love any ideas!
Chairs, colors, baskets, tables, bowls, accents, wall stuff etc. please!

go to Wal-mart, or maybe target has same thing.
but look for cans of spray paint in primer grey and a few colors you enjoy.
Wal-mart has best selection.
pull down your shelves, baskets, bowls, and plastic shelving.
(they make spray paint that sticks to plastic now)
and take outside with some newspaper underneight and spray them lightly over a few days.
like misting them so you do not get the paint to run.
You can find colors that will dominate the hideous wall color.
like dark blues or deep burgundys...
just do the primer first, they make primer in white/grey/black/brown...ect...
then get a gloss color for your baskets and bowls.
and i would go with gloss or matte for your shelves.
color everything you can with your fave colors, it is so much fun and very inexpencive whay to transform your room.

(PS: get some house plants too, and keep them watered, they will liven up the room and show you are almost an adult with excellent taste.
