Gymnastics Bar Shorts
Belly button piercings and gymnastics?
So, I am 16 this year and really want my belly button pierced, my mother has no objections other than my gymnastics.
I train 6 hours a week, wear a leotard or a crop top and shorts all the time and I don't think I would get it caught on anything because my skills aren't too hard.
I do uneven bars, beam, floor, trampolining, vault and strength work. there is a foam pit at my gym, which we oven use.
I have a very high pain tolerance so bending over and stuff wouldn't be a problem.
Should I get it and see how I go? Or wait three years until I stop gymnastics?
Can you think of any other things that could affect the piercing or my training?
Would I be able to cover it with tape if I wore a crop top for gymnastics?

Also, I would get it done over the christmas holidays when I won't be training for about 6 weeks, although it may be more, depending on when my gym closes

If I was you, I'd wait.
I have it done, and it's painless and heals fairly fast.
However with gymnastics, I would suggest it's best to wait seeing as how you'd have to take it out during training.
You could use tape, but I would assume your gymnastics coach would object to you having it in during training (Especially the trampoline) as it's a 'snaggable' item and is against the health and safety regulations.
With the amount of time you spend training (and thus would have to take it out) I wouldn't think it's worth it, and secondly, you need a fair few weeks of keeping it in before removing for the first time.
And having it out even for an hour initially causes it to close slightly, and popping it back is an unnecessary hurt.
You'd also have to bear in mind that if you had to have it out for a longer period of time, or while competing, if it closes, it scars (Not visibly, but it means it'll damage your chance of getting it re-pierced accurately)
