Tie Dye Tank
I need help tie-dying?
My cheerleading team wants to tie-dye tank tops to wear at camp and I'm in charge of the project. There are 27 of us and I know that the tie-dying kits can be expensive. I've also heard of just buying the powder separate. Is that any better or cheaper? We want to keep the cost down as much as possible but also make quality shirts. Can any one reccomend a brand to use or something that will make this easier, anything? What to buy, how much of it I need, what colors to use, any help would be great. =]
Use Rit brand dye. Follow the directions on the packages.
The easiest design to do is a spiral. Lay the shirt on a flat surface. Pinch the shirt in the middle of the body and begin to twisting the shirt in a circle. The material will gather around your hand forming what will look like a cloth cinnamon bun. Place elastics around the shirt very tightly (I used four). Dip one half of the shirt in one color and rinse that side out. Then dip the other side in the second color and rinse that side. Remove the elastics and soak the shirt in salt water to set the color. Rinse the shirt and put it in the dryer to really set the color.
